Since we keep randomly goofing off, I figure I should comment here.

Driver works with the ground crew at the main dock, is said to have crazy good driving skills himself (not yet translated into piloting, but soon), and is socially awkward but not totally unfriendly. He'll definitely be paying attention to the ZDG's top guns... mostly from afar, but still. He hangs around hovercrafts a lot. Perhaps they've said a few words to each other somewhere in the last six months?

I'm sure they have, since Wedge has a keen eye for people with skills and/or people he wants in his team.

Not to mention Driver's personality is a lot like Wedge's, so his presence would pretty soothing to Wedge.
