Character name: Bloom
Canon: The Brothers Bloom
Job/Role: playing cards and drinking a lot while he regrows his hair and cries about his brother.
General Reputation: can be summed up in one word: mopey.
Bloom was unplugged from his Matrix just about four weeks ago, so he's just now getting his Zion legs under him and exploring what it means for everything to be unwritten and very very real... and kind of freaky scary in the worst/best way. currently he is very overwhelmed.
Looking For: He has absolutely no one and he is no one and I am ready for anything!!! He'll have a lot of questions, but outside of confusion and general moping, Bloom doesn't have a lot going for him. He's a bad friend, he would make a terrible crew member, he's really only very good at acting and lying, he has a lot of quiet issues, and he doesn't do well with talking to people in real settings... but if you can get him to participate, he's a hell of a con man.
Notes: for the thousandth time: fake blood tastes like tinfoil.

While Captain is by no means your average well-grounded citizen, drinking and playing card games sounds like a delightful activity to pass the time. Cap's only six weeks out, so they're similarly newbie-scruffy. If Bloom every meanders down to the Temple region, Captain's been employed by priests there to do mundane tasks... but they often slip away for more interesting shenanigans. We could have established CR from the last couple of weeks of Captain taking Bloom under their wing to talk about how reality isn't real. Captain could probably fake sanity long enough for an interaction or two, though of course there are probably lots of odd tells that suggest they're not wholly on their rocker.

I think this sounds fantastic actually. Bloom is pretty hardcore normal despite all the crazy con stuff he's done, and he's pretty good at calling bullshit on people acting or playing a part (because, hello, expert here). but he's also totally out of his depth and confused so it might take a little longer. between that and Captain faking sanity I think we could def have assumed at least a few conversations or something, especially since they're both pretty newly unplugged & might have run into each other.
soooo yes, basically, is what I'm saying. I can definitely have him down in the Temple region too, since he's pretty shiftless and lost and not super interested in training for stuff, I think he'll be wandering a lot. if we have some pre-established CR it will be easier--not that he'll seek Captain out but just that he might mope in that general direction. and then try to avoid conversation but also not try to avoid conversation.
also he kind of misses the madness so even when he figures out Captain is a little nuts he might put up with it. in frustration. but still put up with it. 8,|

yes, to all of this! Bloom would actually kind of know what to do with someone like Crowley and how to behave around him since he's used to loopholers and manipulators. some of his best friends are loopholers and manipulators. so, perfect, yes.

they can also bond over not knowing who they are without outside input and being mopey. although bucky is not as mopey, he could actually prod bloom to do something useful with himself out of a desire to help once they’ve bonded a little, but still. no sunshine or rainbows here.

that's all I have to say about this. yes. timing-wise, I think they would have been unplugged at a similarish time and so going through rehab time at a similarish time, so there can be some base recognition at least that we can use to spur us on to further CR.

WE COULD:
1. Have them run into one another completely randomly, possibly in that kitchen you mentioned.
2. Involve a poor unsuspecting third party who knows they both like cards get them into the same room for that reason.
3. Say Stephen asked a few NPCs to let him know if a mopey nose with arms and legs attached ever shows up & already knows Bloom might be around now & is on the hunt.

and thank you for coming up with several options for me but god all have their merits how do I choose
but I lean toward 3 personally because it implies that Stephen has some NPC contacts which seems really fitting. I guess it could be PC contact(s) too if we want to involve someone else? even just a namedrop or something.
and then I guess we can do some random encounter based on that? OR 3 + Stephen designs some great reveal for himself because what's life without an entrance amirite

"Great reveal" probably kind of difficult without a hat to tip down over his face and slowly raise or any control over the lighting system and probably widespread disapproval of intentionally setting fires in the city, but it can at least not be random. Maybe he'll break into Bloom's apartment thingy while he's off moping elsewhere and wait with his feet up. That's not an invasion of privacy or anything.
