WELP he's been in zion since before she was born, but he still has really close ties back to antioch through his family (some of whom are gonna be apped, probably) - he might've known her parents or something and offered to keep an eye out for her in ~the big city~ if you so desire. he makes a gud uncle.

Yep, her father is an engineer and her mother is a transport hovercraft pilot, so he could have easily known the former and kept in touch with the latter on her cargo runs to Zion?
