▶ GENERAL CONDUCT

It's as simple as treating other people how you wish to be treated, with civility and respect. Harassment, bullying, and deliberate assholery are grounds for banning if such behaviour proves to be a severe or ongoing problem. We are all here to engage in a hobby founded on cooperation and would like everyone to act accordingly.

If you have an issue with another player and feel you cannot resolve it on your own, please do feel free to raise your concerns with the mods. You can find our contact details on the Mod Contact page, we will try our level best to help you find a resolution.

▶ CHARACTER LIMITS & APPLICATIONS

You are allowed four characters total at any one time, with the ability to submit one character app per round. (Note: For our first round of applications upon groundbreaking, we are permitting two character applications per player.)

Guidelines for applying for canon characters:

All canon characters will be unplugged from the Matrix, as opposed to adapting a canon character into an AU version who is native to Zion.
You can app canon characters from almost any medium: films, TV shows, books, video games, comics, etc.
The canon must be at least a month old, and the chosen character within it must be a month old. For example, you must wait a month to app from a newly released movie, or wait a month to app a newly introduced character in an already established TV series.
The canon must be fully available in English (subtitles and scanlations are fine).
You can apply for canon characters who have died during their canon, so long as they are removed from their timeline prior to their death.

Guidelines for applying for original characters:

Original characters will be split into two categories: unplugged and the free born.
The unplugged original characters will, much like their canon counterparts, come from a fully developed Matrix which you will describe in your application. They will undergo or have had to undergo the same extraction process to join the game.
Original characters can either come from wholly original worlds, or from existing canons.
If you're using an existing canon, please ensure that your character does not have any relationship to canon characters outside of the game. They must exist independently.
Free born characters are characters who have been born free of the Matrix. As a result, they will lack the ports that those born in the Matrix possess, and be unable to access the Matrix themselves or upload skillsets.
However, they will generally be more naturally skilled with technology and machinery, and be programmers, operators, and people fluent in Matrix code, or be experts in any number of other real world careers.

▶ ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

We will run an activity check (AC) every month to ensure that our playerbase is active and engaged, while maintaining flexibility for unfortunate side effects of real life. AC must be completed for each character.

Our requirements consist of:

Three consecutive comments in our log community, Systemcritical.

Five consecutive comments in our network community, Subsystem.

One post in either of our communities, Subsystem and Systemcritical. This post must contain narrative content as opposed to being a placeholder.

These comments and posts must take place in the same month of AC.

Note: if you have action spam comments you'd like to submit for log AC that happen to occur in the network community, you may, but please specify that that's what you're doing in your AC comment and make sure all five relevant comments are action!

Anyone who misses AC and fails to contact the mods will be purged.

If you are unable to meet AC and did not notify us of hiatus, then you can request exemption with the understanding that meeting activity requirements is mandatory next month. Consecutive failure to meet AC or needing a hiatus in the next month will result in double activity requirements in the third. After that, ongoing inability to meet AC will result in purging.

Real life hardship and unexpected plans obviously happen and we want people to stay if they want to be here. Please feel free to contact the mods at any time if you have concerns about your activity.

▶ RATINGS & TRIGGER WARNINGS

Systemwide is an 18+ game, with expected content ranging from graphic violence through to sexual themes. Adult content and triggering material is a given.

That said, any material that is extremely violent or sexually graphic must be posted under text cuts and with a friendslock. In addition to that, triggering material should be marked as such. We will leave this up to players to decide, and log formats will possess a field for warnings.

Implied sexual content involving characters 16 or younger is not allowed. Graphic/explicit sexual content involving characters 18 or younger is not allowed.
