Character name: Wanda Maximoff
Canon: Marvel Comics (616).
Job/Role: Wanda works primarily in rehabilitating and counseling the recently extracted, but also has begun to dip her toes into extraction herself.

General Reputation: A bit spiritual (she maintains a quiet but resolute belief in God despite everything; she never preaches, but she will admit to it and stand by it if the topic goes there), outgoing, not a brawler but not by any means passive or shy, apparently incredibly patient given her job. She's obviously awfully young, just twenty-two, but is not hugely prone to flights of fancy and has leadership quality. She does participate in all the underground raves with great enthusiasm, though. To those who don't know her well she may come off as both incredibly "together" and older than she is. She has ridiculous curly hair that probably stands out a bit now that she's had a year and a half to regrow it.

The few who knew her shortly after her extraction may have the impression she's a lot more screwed up and really talented at hiding it, with an undercurrent of untapped volatile emotions. She had unusually prolonged struggles with accepting Zion as reality. They may also recall how stubborn she can be; she spent hours upon hours in simulation, wanting to be perfect at the jump, or anything else she did. They probably also know that she had a brother in her Matrix and is keenly interested in retrieving him.

Looking For:

People she's helped rehabilitate, and one or two she's helped extract.
Those who do remember when she first was extracted.
Friends! She's a social person, prone to casual flirtation, and she understands the importance of blowing off steam. Surviving in Zion is stressful, after all.
Other people who were magic users in their Matrixes of origin.
Others in her specialty.
Anyone who would like to teach her to punch stuff better in simulations.
Who wants to have really intense philosophical conversations when you should be sleeping. Small talk is for the weak.

benny's been extracted for a year, posssssibly timeline would work for post-extraction rehab cr??? be exasperated by her dumb high pain threshold.

OK now that I've taken care of housekeeping:

I stand by gentle foot-stepping-on! I think she might have done a tour on a ship he's on, definitely. She's trying to figure out where she fits and what her ideology needs to become in order to sufficiently serve Zion; she likes having something to strive toward, but definitely, uh. Makes up her own mind about things. He may notice sometimes her opinions are very different to what the majority's might be, for example.

Also yes give me Benny CR. Wanda would've begun working in rehab by then, and she'd use her own experiences as a way of communicating with other people who are struggling, probably. Plus she knows what it's like to lose your powers suddenly. :'(

seoraj is definitely opinionated also, but possibly more quietly so - he tends not to offer his unsolicited thoughts on ... anything, and tends to be self-deprecating about the whole thing. it'd be interesting to see where they do or don't differ, for sure.

- Emma was a magic user in her matrix but she'd be very reluctant to talk about it
- I would be game for her being someone Wanda helped rehabilitate!

- that is fair enough!! Wanda would be interested, certainly, and would press maybe once or twice with an open invitation for any future discussion, but she understands how sensitive that kind of thing can be.
- Ahh awesome. I think they have some similar elements in their Matrix backstories, in fact -- parentless, having to become self-sufficient at an early age.

once she gets more comfortable with it, she might open up a little more. as it is it she's pretty tightlipped about her matrix. I hope she'll be able to open up about it in the future, and if she did it'd probably be with a friend!

I don't know wanda, but yes that is certainly true! that connection would be great for them understanding each other I think.

I'm super into the idea of Wanda having helped rehabilitate Steve and him teaching her to punch stuff good in simulations in return. He'd take better to the rehabilitation if it's via a more equally beneficial relationship like that.

He'd also be game for intense philosophical conversations, if she didn't mind him being pretty unbudging in his beliefs. He'd still listen well and thoughtfully.

YES PLEASE I'm so pumped to have her interact with Steve, I cannot express. She'd fully be down for an exchange of simulation training -- in fact, that mirrors her 616 combat training, although she's from an earlier canon point than that. So that's a neat little touch.

Definitely not a problem for her! She'd want to hear his opinions, too; she's keen to get a good grasp on everyone's perspectives.

Oh, perfect! ♥ I am so looking forward to it too. Out of curiosity, how would Wanda sort of, I guess, focus her rehabilitation? Like how does she go about it and whatnot, since that kind of thing would certainly register with Steve.

Deuc has the same kind of specialisation in extraction/rehab/sim training, so maybe they can have crossed paths/know each other in some respect because of that? I think he was in his recluse phase when she was extracted though, unfortunately.

I would love this! Wanda could have possibly sought his advice on more recalcitrant recently unplugged folks in her earlier days of rehabbing, perhaps?

Crowley's been recently extracted if you're interested in having Wanda involved in that. I don't have anything set about it yet. He also have some experience with witchcraft. He's a demon and his mother was a powerful witch who taught him some of the craft. He won't be too interested in deep conversations, but I would certainly enjoy playing out him having them thrust upon him, too, if that sounds like fun. He might even come out of his superficial shell a bit over time.

Sounds like a good plan! If she does learn he was an Actualfax Demon in his home Matrix she may have to stifle quite a lot of questions of her own. She tries to be respectful where people's boundaries are concerned, especially re: magic, but the curiosity is there, burning away. So they've probably slipped out a few times.

We are going to RP.

There may be no pancakes in this RP, I am seeing, but we can dream.... that can be a long-term RP goal, pancake achievement...

Since Tony's only been extracted for a year, it seems likely that Wanda helped him get on his feet back when. He did adapt pretty quick but probably initially decompensated hardcore back into his IM3-shaped PTSD symptoms back in the day, such as hardcore insomnia, problems connecting with people (even willingness to sit down and eat in the same room). So maybe insomniac small talk was a thing!

Also he probably hid his defensiveness about being a naked floppy middle-aged baby man around a beautiful woman by saying like a billion flippant things (questions, statements, etc.) she may or may not have found entertaining. Y/N??/

Sounds good! That was fairly early on (well, 5-6 mos) into her adjustment so she wasn't in perfect shape, either, just well enough to try and help out. Insomniac small talk works for me.

YYYY. She probably found it entertaining -- purposely letting herself find it entertaining, because defense mechanisms are sometimes a necessary thing and it's better to let newbs have them -- in so far as it didn't detract from keeping him on track with rehab, in which case she tried very hard to go B| at him. Which is familiar, at least, women going B| FOCUS at Tony.

Jay is an insomniac (with a penchant for long conversations, though he's more "ridiculous and elaborate" than "philosophical", TBH) and a former magic user so he fits at least two points there!

Also: he's from his world's equivalent of Russia and is his world's equivalent of Ashkenazi Jewish, soooo there's some Eastern European common ground, there.

Excellent \o/ She has complex feelings about her own magic, but she does miss it.

Ahh that's very cool. Her dad is Jewish but she doesn't have much awareness of that, being much more connected to her Romani side through upbringing. Are there Roma equivalents there, what's their status like if so?

there is actually a whole bunch of stuff here that dorian here could really use from her/could provide her with, ahh, this is exciting! here's a list, because i figured that'd be easier 8|

-extraction - i haven't gotten it nailed down who/what ship extracted him as of yet, so that'd be cool.
-rehabilitiation, yeah, he definitely needed that. he's been in zion for 7 months, but his recovery period was really hard and he's still pretty disoriented with reality. there's more info about his time in the real world over on his app.
-hella philosophical talk at ass o'clock in the morning. dorian really likes to learn new things and understand stuff that's unfmailiar to him. the dragon age world has it's own flushed out religion that focuses around 'the Maker', and has a lot of similar elements to christianity, so talking about God vs Maker would be really fun for him.
-social butterflies/friends/underground raves hell yeah
-magic user, yep. he's actually feeling like he's lost a sense without magic here, it's bad. he spends a lot of time in the sims just to have it back :(

so, there's things 8T if you're up for any of that!

Ahhh I'm so sorry I missed this, my email has been funny with DW notifs! Also I love Dorian, hello. DAI was the game that sucked me into Dragon Age for real.

I would really enjoy Wanda being on his extraction crew! He could have been one of the first people she helped officially extract, in fact, that would be awesome.

Also the philosophical conversations, yesss. Wanda comes from an Orthodox Romani background so her religious beliefs are a little different even for her own world, but she can still provide frame of reference for what many other people believe there, and I think she'd find the similarities interesting.

Maybe if they do any missions together in supernatural-type Matrixes, they can team up and be an unstoppable magic duo. :Ia
